Google recently launched Google Posts inside of your Google My Business Page. Truly, this is one of the only “free advertising” opportunities Google gives businesses, so you should take advantage of it.
What are Google Posts?
Inside your Google My Business page, Google has created a feature called “Posts.” Posts allow you to publish information about your company’s events, products, and services directly to Google Search and Maps.
By creating Posts, you can communicate important details about your business when customers find your business on Google, especially during mobile search. While this feature works well on desktop search, it is essentially designed to assist people who are searching from their phones.
How do I create or publish a Google Post?
When you log in to your Google My Business Page, you will see a feature called Posts on the left side of your dashboard. It is pretty simple to create your post.
Just follow these directions below from Google.
- Sign in to Google My Business. If you have two or more locations, click Manage location for the location you’d like to manage.
- Click Create post. Or click Posts from the menu.
- The “Create post” screen will appear. Here, you’ll see options to add photos, text, events, and a button to your post. Just click each field, and enter the relevant information.
- Once you’ve created your post, click Preview to see a preview. If it looks good, click Publish in the top right corner of the screen.
What does my Google Post look like after I publish it?
Your Google Post will show up during desktop and mobile search and will appear in your company’s knowledge graph and map listing. This is what it looks like.
What image should I use for my Google Post?
We have found that Google is a bit finicky about the image you should post. The dimensions changed on us when we set up Google Posts for our clients. So, we recommend that you keep it simple and easy to read. We use Canva to create a quick design. And, remember to name your image with your company name and offer because Google indexes image names for search, as well.
How many Google Posts can I create?
You can create as many posts as you want. We have found, however, that only two posts show up in the Knowledge Graph and Map.
How long does my Google Post last?
As soon as you publish your post, it appears on Google Search and Map almost instantly. The post is removed from Google Search in 7 days. So, you need to continue monitoring your post and publishing new ones.
