Facebook Changes

Facebook Changes… Again.

Yes, Facebook is changing its algorithm… yet again. The newest set of changes focuses on what you want to see the most. According to Facebook Engineering Director, Lars Backstrom, the site is “updating News Feed over the coming weeks so that the things posted by the friends you care about are higher up in your News Feed.”

In other words, posts from the friend you fell out of touch with from high school will rarely be seen on your news feed.

What does this mean for your business? EVERYTHING. This algorithm change will be showing posts people want to see from their friends and pushing your business’ posts down the totem pole.

Because of  this, we will be seeing an increase in Facebook advertising. Facebook advertising will act as a way around these changes, so businesses can still be seen on the news feeds of their target consumers.

If your business has loyal followers who want to see you on their feeds, there is a way they can continue seeing your posts. Here’s how:

  1. Have your followers go to your business page
  2. Click the drop down arrow on the “Like” button
  3. Under the “IN YOUR NEWS FEED” header, choose “See First”

Facebook Changes... Again.

This will allow your content to be incorporated into your consumers’ news feeds, rather than fall behind posts of their great aunt’s cat.
